Board Members Update

Three new board members were elected to the board of Auðna TTO at the general meeting that took place last August 15th.

We are pleased to welcome three new members to our board: Anna Valborg Guðmundsdóttir, Lilja Kjalarsdóttir, and Svava María Atladóttir. Their diverse expertise and extensive experience will significantly enhance our board's capabilities.


Anna Valborg is a European patent expert and currently serves as the Patent Manager at Embla Medical, an international health technology company. Embla Medical is the parent company of Össur and other related enterprises. With a strong background in intellectual property, Anna previously worked in the patent department at Actavis/Teva. She also oversees the Candidate Support Program at the European Patent Office (EPO) and teaches courses on patents for European accreditation. As Iceland's representative in the European Patent Institute (EPI) committees, she plays a vital role in shaping patent policies. Additionally, Anna is a board member of the Association of Icelandic Patent Experts.


Lilja Kjalarsdóttir is the Director of Operations and Strategy at Alvotech, a leading biotech company specialising in the development and production of biosimilars. In her role, she oversees transformation projects, goal setting, and operational dashboards. Lilja brings a wealth of experience, having previously served as Managing Director at SagaNatura and as Research and Development Director at Genís. She holds a Ph.D. in Biomedicine from UTSW Medical Center and has led numerous research projects funded by Rannís, the European Union, and the NIH. Lilja also contributes to the entrepreneurial community as a mentor at KLAK.


Svava María Atladóttir is the Director of Development at Landspítali. An engineer by education, she is also the co-author of a textbook on creative thinking in healthcare systems. From 2001 to 2020, Svava María was based in Silicon Valley, where she led a consulting firm, secured several patents, and taught design thinking methodologies at the university level. Her international experience and innovative approach to healthcare systems make her a valuable addition to our board.


Continuing on the board are Chairman Kristinn Andersen, Guðbjörg Hrönn Óskarsdóttir, Anna Kristín Daníelsdóttir, and Ólafur Eysteinn Sigurjónsson.
